BitCamp

Project Overview

BitCamp is a program run by Software GR, a Grand Rapids nonprofit organization.  It is a reoccurring one-day introduction to software design for 7th and 8th grade girls in the Grand Rapids and West Michigan areas.  Area studios host the events, giving the girls a real-life look into the career.

The most important thing for this client was accessibility and the ability to edit the website as they are a 501(c)6 nonprofit, and do not have funding to hire designers to make changes.  For that reason, we built on SquareSpace.  The website is clean and minimal, with a look and feel that appeals to the demographic (7th and 8th grade girls) while retaining a professional look for their parents and teachers.

Green Cup Design worked on a team of designers and developers at GiveCamp for this project.  We were in charge of:

  • layout design
  • stock photography
  • content development
  • gallery creation
  • basic development

“Veronica was the lead designer for the BitCamp team at GiveCamp 2015.  We started with only ideas, and throughout the weekend Veronica helped in developing, branding  and creating all the visual elements for our website (a site we still use today).  She is a good listener, asks great questions and is super collaborative.”
